NOTE : sarosh n. fatakia - june 24th 2002. steps to program the LTB and LRB =================================================================== use the vme crate for mounting the LTBs, LRBs and use slepton.bu.edu for programming the altera software. do not use the jtag option [FLEX] 01-connect LTBs and, or LRB on the mother board(s). 02-connect the LVDS cable from the altera dongle on to the fpga programming connectors. green line pin (on the LVDS) will go to the red line pin (pin#1) of the dongle. the green line will go to pin#1 of the fpga connector. for the recent LTBs and LRBs, (ie R40 and T40 onwards) programming pins 1->2, 2->1, 3->4, 4->3 etc. ie neighbouring pins have swapped. Use the special connector to accomodate this feature. the next few instructions (03-10) will be common to LTB and LRB. for generality let us only consider the LTB. 03-goto http://budoe.bu.edu/~sfatakia/firmware_ltb.html choose the firmware revision# you want- eg #23. save the Ltb_v2_23.zip in the directory you want eg d:\users\yourusername\...\ltb_test\ltb_v2_23\ unzip the file and it gives an option that the extracted version will be called V2_23 - choose that. you will have the programming files in d:\users\yourusername\...\ltb_test\ltb_v2_23\V2_23 04-open MAX+plusII 10.0 05-[File]->[Project]->[Name] choose the directory correctly, using Drives as well as directories menu, then->name it as "ltbv3" ie the project. [ok]- 06-[MAX+plusII]->[Programmer] - wait for a moment 07-[File]->[select programming file]->click [ltbv3.pof]->[ok] 08-if jtag flag is on - it will ask Multi-device FLEX chain mode, which disables the functions of this dialog box, is on. Do you want to switch to the single-device mode. say [Yes] 09-from 06 the window is active. click on [Program] - 10-wait and watch the program work!
