LRB V2.4 Mod for data_valid outputs
Maintained by .
Updated 5/20/2002.
This page documents a modification which can be made to link receiver
boards to bring out a "data valid" signal for user logic.
Note the following
- Only applies to V2.4 PC boards (find text "LRB V2.4" etched in the
board near the "J3" silkscreen label). The version number text is
etched in the copper under the solder mask so it is hard to see.
- Please upgrade your LTB firmware to at least Revision V2_15 for everything
to work well. You can check the revision in the status display
of the motherboard software (or by reading offset 8 in configuration space).
You can get new firmware HERE.
Performing the Mod
Basically what is needed is to add 3 wires to the J7 connector.
See the photos below.
| Wire from | Wire to
|
| J7 - 61 | J7 - 16
|
| J7 - 59 | J7 - 17
|
| J7 - 57 | J7 - 19
|
There is one catch... the connector
pin on pin 57 (red arrow in first photo below) must be unsoldered from
the pad on the PCB (it can be cut off) and the wire soldered to
the PCB pad only.
If you destroy the pad in the process, the second photo shows a via
where you can solder a wire to J7-19 to accomplish the same thing.
